While in Michigan, CSC Correspondent Rick Weaver covered the Downriver Dream Cruise, one of the largest held every year in the Metro-Detroit area. It was a fourteen hour event that took place on Fort Street (a six lane boulevard) starting in Lincoln Park, and concluded at the Southgate-Riverview boarder some five miles away. We saw a bunch of Turbo Regals and plenty of Gbody cars (our normal requirement [wishful thinkings] when attending car shows). It doesn’t happen too often that we can publish a post that ONLY has our top 4 categories of vehicles in it (hence us having to put whatever is neat at the specific venue we are at in the car show posts we make).

Cars Under Stars SH:4

Thousands of participants flocked down the road in classic cars of all types (and lots of new hot rods too). Wind down after the Azalea festivities and join us for an exciting night on the river. Join us for a river cruise themed to the “Burgwin-Wright presents…Outlander in the Cape Fear. Purchase a tasty drink from our bar, sit along side your family or friends and relish in the beauty of the colorful sky during your cruise. Join us on a scenic 50-minute narrated eco-history cruise featuring views of unspoiled nature and a variety of wildlife daily.

Lakeside Mall Season Ender Car Show Oct 2023

Many cars and crowds will also gather the evening before for an unofficial kickoff. An official event for most of its history, each event held since 2017 has been unofficial as a result of increasing expenses incurred and lack of profits by each of the communities along the cruise route. The 2017 and 2018 events had another factor, in the form of increased traffic along Fort Street due to a prolonged partial closure of Interstate 75, which parallels Fort Street in the Downriver area, during those two years. Although I-75 had since fully reopened by the time of the 2019 edition, the event remains unofficial, and this status has allowed the 2020 edition to continue to move forward in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic. People lined the streets all along the way to watch and cheer for their friends and favorite vehicles.

Bottomless Bubbles Drink Packages

carnival cruise line drink packages

And, unless you are sailing with a luxury all-inclusive cruise line, only coffee, tea, water, and juices are included with the cruise fare -- all other drinks incur an extra charge. Your soft drinks, bottled water, and specialty coffees are also included, so factor those costs into your decision as well. Those little purchases can add up over the length of your cruise. Princess Cruises also offers a Zero Alcohol Package, inclusive of specialty coffees, fresh juices and smoothies, mocktails, bottled water, sodas and energy drinks. Meanwhile, the Classic Soda Package includes all sodas, fruit juices, mocktails and smoothies, without the buzz of energy drinks or specialty coffees. Margaritaville At Sea drink packages aren't all-inclusive, so anyone who plans on drinking at least 10 alcoholic drinks will save money on the pre-packaged offerings.

For those who want a broader selection, drinks can be purchased a la carte or guests can purchase drink packages. Both packages include a 25 percent discount on bottles of wine, one-liter bottles of water, and can sodas. Holland America offers its Signature and Elite Beverage Packages for alcoholic drinks up to $11 and $15 per serving, respectively, as well as specialty coffees and teas, fountain drinks, juices, and bottled water. When it comes to cruise line drink packages, not all are created equal.

In addition, Costa's non-inclusive MYCRUISE fare is bare bones, with limited nonalcoholic beverages available throughout the day. Celebrity's "Always Included" offers are ideal when booking eligible cruise fares, as the Classic Package is already included and will serve most travelers best. The package does not apply to drinks in souvenir glasses or via room service.

Flashback: Cruise Bar Menus From 10 Years Ago Show How Much Prices Have Soared

All adults over 21 in the cabin must purchase the beverage package if one person does. This requirement is likely to help stem the incentive for people to share drinks by only purchasing one package and then giving them to others in the cabin. If you’re taking a cruise aboard a Carnival ship, then chances are that you’ve seen mention of the CHEERS! If you've decided the Carnival Cheers package isn't worth the cost, you might still want some tips on scoring free or cheaper drinks during your cruise. Here are our top tips for drinking for less on a Carnival cruise ship.

Over the years, he's worked with products like TVs, copiers, light bulbs, and EV chargers, but cruising has always been his passion. There's nothing Randy likes more than the first couple of hours on a ship, exploring every nook and cranny and seeing how it's different from everything else out there. He's known for providing detailed and analytical coverage of cruising to help cruisers get a comprehensive picture of a ship's offerings. It’s available exclusively on Carnival Jubilee in the Currents zone. It is located where the Brass Magnolia bar is on the Mardi Gras and Golden Jubilee on the Celebration. While it has different names, this menu is typically found at the bar in the ship’s lobby or atrium.

Are you more of a beer drinker, or are you into wine, spirits and cocktails? Beer is generally cheaper, so it would take more drinks per day to add up to the daily value of the Cheers package. You have to purchase the package for the duration of the cruise. If you wait until you're on board to buy the package, you must purchase it on the first day of your sailing. You cannot try out the package for a single day or start it midway through the cruise — unless you're sailing from New York or Texas, where drink packages get activated at 6 a.m. The Carnival Cheers package isn't offered on two-day cruises.

There are a few ways you can save money on alcoholic beverages on your upcoming Carnival cruise

Unfortunately, cocktails are unavailable on Ecstasy, Elation, Freedom, and Miracle as they have a Bonsai Sushi Express, not a dedicated restaurant. Two lines that notably don't have such a rule are Princess Cruises and Windstar Cruises. Technically, you are not supposed to use your package to buy drinks for other people.

What is the activation time for the Cheers! package on cruises departing from Texas and New York?

Package doesn’t go into effect until 6 AM on the second day of the sailing. Once you hit the 15 drinks, you’re not allowed to order more alcohol, even if you try to pay out of pocket. Packages can’t be used to order beverages on the private islands of Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays. The pricing of this package starts at $6.95 per child (17 years of age and younger) or $9.50 per adult (plus 18% gratuity). No matter what package you choose, you can only get one drink at a time with a five minute wait time between orders.

However, there is no sharing of the package or using your package to order drinks for other cruisers. The Captain's Exclusive Beverage Package includes the same beer and wine offerings with the addition of Champagne by the glass, cordials, cocktails and mini bar selections. When not bundled with an all-inclusive fare, Windstar offers two other beverage programs. The Topmast Discoveries Beer & Wine Package includes domestic and imported beer along with more than 30 varieties of wine by the glass. Virgin Voyages strives to offer drinks for every budget so a la carte purchases won't have a great deal of sticker shock. Those purchasing a prepaid Bar Tab won't save money on individual beverages, though Virgin often offers a promotional onboard credit as a thank you to those selecting a Bar Tab.

Further, on embarkation day, guests are allowed to bring onboard a maximum of 12, 12-ounce cans/cartons of non-alcoholic beverages per person in their carry-on luggage. Guests 21 years of age and older may also bring onboard one 750ml bottle of unopened wine or champagne in their carry-on. Of course, if you wish to forego a beverage package, you can always pay a la carte for your drinks purchased on the ship.

These measures are in place to promote a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests onboard. Package, you can savor your favorite alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks throughout the cruise, from a refreshing cocktail by the pool to a glass of wine with dinner. Enjoy the convenience of having a wide variety of beverages included in one comprehensive package. Even if you're a caffeine fiend who drinks coffee and soda all day, it's hard to recoup the costs of the Carnival Cheers package on nonalcoholic beverages alone.

Package gives you the run of beverages from the ship’s bars for up to $20 per glass. If you order a drink that’s more than $20, the fine print says that you receive a 25% discount off the menu price. The package covers a wide variety of drinks, including everything from bottles of water to sodas to energy drinks to beer and cocktails. Basically, if you can drink it, it’s likely included in the CHEERS!

The steakhouse is a staple on almost every Carnival cruise ship. On older ships, it may have a different name, like “David’s Steakhouse,” but the drink menus are similar. If you choose to bring a bottle of wine or champagne onboard and consume it outside of your stateroom, you will be charged a $15 corkage fee per bottle. The afternoon buffet is included in the cost of your cruise fare, though, so you won't have to worry about returning to the ship for lunch.

Cameron Robbins missing in Bahamas after jumping off boat on dare

teen jumps from cruise ship

The viral cellphone video of Robbins in the water, which was seen over 10 million times, went through virtually every type of edit on social media after a speculation-fueled narrative that Robbins encountered a shark gripped people's curiosities. Cameron Robbins, a Louisiana resident, was celebrating his high school graduation when he was reportedly dared to jump overboard on a cruise. The 18-year-old "reportedly jumped from a pleasure vessel," the Royal Bahamas Police Force said in a statement. While not confirmed by the United States Coast Guard press release, Royal Bahamas Defence Force Commodore Raymond King spoke to the media during the days of the search about the possibility of a shark attack. People on the cruise ship begin to shout and call for the man to go to the lifesaver, only for someone to remark that the man is no longer visible. In the video, other guests upon the cruise ship can be heard swearing and eventually panicking as the footage allegedly shows Robbins getting pulled underneath the water.

The boat, designed to resemble a pirate ship, remained in the area for several hours as crew members tried to find the teen. Cameron Robbins, who graduated from University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge this past Sunday, was on a trip to the Bahamas with students from several local high schools, staying at Atlantis Paradise Island resort in Nassau, reported the station WAFB. "Your vision, judgment, everything is impaired and I can tell you that area, for the individual who reportedly jumped over, it is an area that is really shark-infested as well.

This is the highest figure in the region, with Cuba in second with 13 and Puerto Rico in third with 11. The boat stayed in the area that night for hours after the incident as people looked for Robbins. The Royal Bahamas Police Force is investigating claims that Robbins jumped overboard as part of a dare, according to WBRZ. Robbins graduated from the University Lab High School, which operates as part of LSU, on Sunday.

Teens tried to stop Cameron Robbins before he jumped off Bahamas cruise, passenger's parent says

Robbins was in the Bahamas staying at the Atlantis Paradise resort in Nassau with other teenagers from Baton Rouge to mark their high school graduations, Louisiana State University confirmed Thursday. The agency announced the conclusion of its search for 18-year-old Cameron Robbins, a recent high school graduate, on Saturday after a two-day effort led by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. "Sad to report last night on our cruise a 15-year-old fell from the 16th floor. He sadly did not make it," stated the vlogger. A few days after Robbins’ disappearance, his family travelled from Louisiana to the Bahamas to take part in the search and visit the area where he was last seen, before returning home Sunday. Robbins, a standout baseball player, graduated from University Laboratory High School in Baton Rouge on May 21.

The Baton Rouge 18-year-old was enjoying a sunset cruise with several hundred fellow graduates May 24 when he leaped overboard from a vessel designed to look like a pirate ship — apparently on a dare. The video, which has so far been viewed more than 10 million times on Twitter, is being scrutinized, with some indicating the video allegedly shows the exact moment Robbins is pulled underneath the water by a shark after jumping off a cruise ship near Nassau, Bahamas. The U.S. Coast Guard has ended their search for a Louisiana teenager who fell overboard from a sunset cruise in the Bahamas on Wednesday night. The Coast Guard called off its own search two days later, after reportedly scouring over 325 square miles.

"The Bahamas government has called off the rescue for Cameron and we are returning to Baton Rouge," the family said in a statement. "We offer our sincerest condolences to Cameron Robbins’ family and friends," Spado added. The ship was near Athol Island an uninhabited island located northeast of Nassau, according to WBRZ. Videos show Robbins jumping from the boat and swimming with a life preserver nearby.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Robbins Family during this incredibly difficult time. Out of respect for the Robbins family’s privacy, we feel it’s inappropriate to comment on the details surrounding the night of the incident. The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said many of the students were part of a close-knit community that was in shock, disbelief, exhausted and cold as the U.S. Coast Guard, Royal Bahamas Defence Force and United Cajun Navy searched the waters until about 3 a.m. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. "Just one of those kids that you're so proud of once they cross the stage," George told WBRZ.

A video has surfaced showing boat passengers in the Bahamas moments after an 18-year-old Louisiana star baseball player jumped off the ship in response to a dare, resulting in a fatal outcome. Search and rescue crews searched more than 325 square miles looking for Robbins. “Words fall short of expressing the worry our entire school community is feeling. Extra counselors will be available on campus to speak with students and faculty who are struggling to process this news. Our thoughts are with the Robbins family, and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts as well,” Mr George wrote. Cameron Robbins went on a trip to the Bahamas to celebrate his graduation from the University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Missing teen vanishes in dark ocean after jumping from Bahamas cruise

He was staying at Atlantis Paradise Island with a group of fellow seniors from other area high schools. Robbins disappeared three days after his graduation from University Laboratory School. Robbins was last seen splashing in the dark, “shark-infested” waters a few feet from the boat, before vanishing from view. “He initially goes for the buoy but then turns around when he sees the shark, ultimately disappearing into the water, likely dragged down. Royal Bahamas Defense Force Commodore Raymond King has told the Daily Mail the the water in that area are “really shark-infested,” which has fueled the shark-attack theory.

"Our Coast Guard command center and aircrews based in Miami supported RBDF search and rescue efforts since the initial report Wednesday evening, and continued through Friday evening." A chaotic video taken moments after the jump also shows the recent graduate ignoring onlookers’ pleas to grab a buoy. “We offer our sincerest condolences to Cameron Robbins’ family and friends,” said Lt. Cmdr. Matthew Spado, Coast Guard liaison officer to the Bahamas. Since he went missing, a multi-day search was undertaken by both Bahamian authorities and the U.S. Coast Guard -- but Robbins was never found, and the search has now been called off after several unsuccessful days of scouring the area for any sign of him.

The Coast Guard called off its own search two days later, after reportedly scouring over 325 square miles. The waters off Athol Island, where 18-year-old Cameron Robbins was last seen swimming after jumping off the Blackbeard’s Revenge sunset cruise on May 24, are “really shark-infested,” Royal Bahamas Defense Force (RBDF) Commodore Raymond King told the Daily Mail on Tuesday. The U.S. Coast Guard said Thursday that it was assisting with search efforts for a missing U.S. citizen "believed to have fallen overboard from a sunset cruise near Nassau" on Wednesday. A Coast Guard spokesperson confirmed to ABC News that the search was for Robbins. According to a witness, crews made multiple unsuccessful attempts to locate Robbins as the boat, resembling a pirate ship, stayed in the area for several hours. The U.S. Coast Guard has ended their search for a Louisiana teenager who went overboard during a sunset cruise in the Bahamas on Wednesday night.

A multi-day search for a Louisiana teen who jumped from a sunset cruise in the Bahamas has come to its tragic end -- and the last known sighting of him was caught on harrowing video. The high school baseball standout graduated from Baton Rouge's U-High on May 21, and his last posts on Instagram include pictures of him surrounded by his family and friends. "We offer our sincerest condolences to Cameron Robbins’ family and friends," Beal said in a statement. The Coast Guard provided air assistance in the search and rescue mission, which was being led by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, according to Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryan Estrada.

If you’re not too concerned about getting something to eat while you’re taking a NOLA cruise, there are several dining options to consider. Each company has at least one house band that will perform onboard throughout the trip. Even so, it’s important to note that many of the items prepared for this cruise will be made either with or alongside dairy products such as cheese, milk, and butter.

Much like its competitors, this company also offers a historic cruise with an optional dinner buffet meal. The 880 passenger Paddlewheeler Creole Queen is New Orleans’ most luxurious daily excursions riverboat on the Mississippi River. The Creole Queen is an traditional riverboat powered by a 24-ft diameter paddlewheel. She has three private dining rooms giving her the largest indoor capacity available on excursion vessels in New Orleans. Enjoy a Dinner Jazz Cruise, a Historical Cruise, or even one of our Special Event Cruises.

Running only on Sundays throughout the year, this two-hour cruise combines the musical stylings of a local jazz duo or trio, setting the perfect scene for a relaxed meal. Menu items often include some kind of meat gumbo, Crescent City eggs, made with sausage, green onions and spinach, and bananas Foster to finish. Not just a boat, the Steamboat NATCHEZ is a time machine that fills its passengers with the romance and marvel of yesteryear! This evening jazz cruise is a great way to experience New Orleans' beauty and culture.

This cruise departs daily at 7pm, lasts two hours, and you can choose either a first or second dinner seating. This company only offers live jazz music on their dinner cruises, but they’ve also got a great band on hand. We include tickets, ways to save, menu items, music, reviews, and information about various lunch cruises. This company also provides a buffet-style dinner cruise with live jazz music.

Spend an enchanting Christmas Eve in New Orleans on the Creole Queen! Enjoy unparalleled views of the city from our elegant, garland-adorned dining rooms or from the open air of our upper deck. On some pages, you can select how to sort the results we display and also use filter options to see only those search results that meet your chosen preferences. You'll see explanations of what those sort options mean when you select them.

Ticket prices are a bit more affordable across the board and this cruise is about as long as the service offered by their competitor. You do not need to purchase a dinner (or a lunch) to board these vessels. One takes place June 30 to July 7 and July 28 to August 4 and sails through Mahogany Bay, Belize and Cozumel.

While boarding, calliope music will also be performed for approximately 15 minutes. Much like the Steamboat Stompers, this band is also noted for their performances on television shows, most notably the hit HBO series Treme. Sadly, there are no foods specifically made to be gluten-free, most of their food is prepared with dairy products like milk, cheese, and butter. Traveling along the Mississippi River, a tour guide will provide several historical facts about NOLA.

The Steamboat Natchez is unsurprisingly popular with visitors to New Orleans. And for an added layer of experience, there are a few limited VIP dinner cruise spots available on their nightly excursions. As part of this special cruise, have a glass of Champagne as you board, then take a private tour of the boat with the captain. Among the many other perks, you’ll enjoy a reserved front row seat to watch the band and can make good use of your VIP host to fetch drinks from the bar, which is free to VIP guests. The majority of guests enjoyed their dining and most customers were very impressed with the live jazz band. Savor the beauty and romance of the New Orleans skyline aboard the Dinner Jazz Cruise.

Day 7: Amber Cove

Everything you need to know to get to the port and start your vacation. The Market stretches for blocks before you and is bordered north and south by a broad variety of shops, galleries and restaurants. It's here that the carriage tours begin and end, and beyond is the main shopping district. To your left lies the original Historic District, Charleston's heart; to your right is Ansonborough, Charleston's first suburb (1800). You can find multiple restaurants offering Southern and international cuisine within five blocks of the terminal.

Charleston first hosted Carnival Cruise ships as a homeport when the now-defunct Carnival Fantasy first sailed from the port on May 18, 2010. This began a great era of cruising from the southern city, with cruises sailing to The Bahamas, Bermuda, the U.S.

Charleston has endured much over the centuries, but the city also has thrived and prospered. Here, you’ll find Charleston City Market, the city’s most visited attraction. Established in the 1790s, the market and the surrounding streets make you feel like you have been transported back in time. The colorful yet muted buildings are adorned with Roman-style columns and other early American architectural features.

The lot is actually an airport parking lot that’s now opened to cruise parking. That means it’s actually right near the airport, which is about 10 miles away from the cruise port. Still, with a daily rate of $10 per day, you’ll save half of what you’d pay at the cruise port for parking at the ship. Although Charlotte’s tourism economy may suffer from the decision, officials believe it is the right decision for the city’s future. They speculate that there will be future opportunities for a more developed cruise port capable of welcoming visitors to the city. In the meantime, cruise ships will continue to use the port as usual.

The newly constructed museum now stands as a testament to the history and contributions of black Americans. If you stick to the waterfront and walk 12 to 15 minutes north, you can find the South Carolina Aquarium. View marine species from all around the world, as well as local species.

Virgin Islands, and other Caribbean ports of call over the years. Following the failure to renew Carnival Cruise Line’s deal with the South Carolina Ports Authority, cruise ships will no longer be allowed to start journeys from the city. With that said, cruise ships will still be allowed to dock at Charleston temporarily, but only for same-day port of call stops rather than overnight stays. Charleston is a major city, so cruise passengers have plenty of transportation options. The most popular way to get around the city is to take taxis, which are available directly at the cruise terminal. Despite its basic layout, the port is surprisingly accessible.

We have turn-by-turn directions to find your cruise terminal. Keep in mind this is only for the official port parking at the pier. In an effort to control tourism, the South Carolina Ports Authority is also limiting ships. Ships will not be able to visit more than 104 times per year with a 3,500 passenger limit. They're eager to share it and will go out of their way to help visitors, which explains why Charleston has been named the "Most Polite" city in America several years in a row. The Holy City, Charleston, is so named for the skyline of steeples seen by ships' passengers as they enter Charleston harbor. The view was there before the American Revolution, during the Civil War, and you'll see the same today as your ship arrives or departs.

Despite its popularity, Charleston Cruise Port is a relatively small part of the main seaport, with only one cruise ship pier capable of handling full-sized cruise ships. Given its limited capabilities, it is only used as a homeport for a single cruise line – Carnival Cruise Line.

Wheelchair service is available at Charleston Cruise Port once you enter the terminal after parking. Inform a Welcome Agent of your need, and they will have a porter assist and direct you to the proper security line. Continue to Chapel Street at the traffic light and turn left.
